From the newsroom to the courtroom, Alicia has nearly 30 years of experience telling the stories of South Dakotans. Her extensive experience in personal injury law and dedicated focus on fighting institutionalized abuses highlight her career-long commitment to protecting the rights of the individual.  

As a trial lawyer, Alicia has a proven track record of representing everyday people in the court system. She received the South Dakota “Toast of the Trial Lawyers” Award for her successful pro-bono work seeking life-saving medical treatment for a child. She is respected in the legal community. The Chief Judge of the Federal District Court of South Dakota appointed Alicia to the Federal Practice Committee which fosters collaboration among judges and lawyers with the goal of examining and improving the federal justice system and local rules so as to further the interests of justice. 

Simultaneously, she’s built a career in broadcast journalism as an Emmy-nominated news anchor for KOTA-TV, earning such accolades as the Tom Brokaw Award and the 2024 Gold & Silver Circles – Upper Midwest Emmys®. She reports on local, statewide and national stories and has moderated high-profile political debates to better inform South Dakota voters. A Stanford Law School graduate, her continuing education includes advanced trial courses, group relations study in England, and life coach training —reflecting her lifelong commitment to advocacy, communication, and public service.
